Earring trees

These are really a follow on from making my Drop Spindles. As with the Spindles the “whorls” are made from selected timber on a base of Ripple Sycamore. This I believe provides a number of benefits. Aesthetically I feel the base of the light Ripple Sycamore displays the main timber to great effect. The laminating of the two timbers help to provide stability. And last but by no means least this process helps reduce the amount of exotic timber used. The main body of the tree if from UK Ripple Sycamore or American Black Walnut. Height 13.5cm width 7cm, as each item is individually hand turned so measurements are approximate.
All the trees are finished with several coats of oil then burnished and a final coat of wax is applied.
